    About this tool

Resizing changes the number of pixels in an image. Making an image smaller reduces its file size and makes it fit size rules on websites, social media and online forms.

Keep aspect ratio is on by default, so the picture is never stretched. Turn it off to get an exact width and height: the image is then cropped from the center to fill that size, which is useful for profile pictures, thumbnails and ID photos.

    Questions

Can I make an image bigger?

Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail that was not there, so the result may look soft.

What size should I use for social media?

    Common sizes are 1080 × 1080 for square posts, 1080 × 1350 for portrait posts and 1920 × 1080 for widescreen images.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are read and processed on your own device and are never sent to us or anyone else. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
