    About this tool

JPG is the most widely supported photo format. Almost every website, app and printer accepts it, and it keeps file sizes small. It does not support transparency, so transparent areas become white.

PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds. It is ideal for logos, screenshots and graphics with text, but photos saved as PNG are usually larger than JPG.

WebP is a modern format from Google that produces much smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality. It is supported by all modern browsers, but some older apps and upload forms still do not accept it.

    Questions

    Which format should I use?

JPG for photos you want to share, PNG for graphics or anything needing transparency, and WebP for the smallest files on websites.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are read and processed on your own device and are never sent to us or anyone else. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
