HEIC to JPG: iPhone Photo Guide
iPhones can save photos as HEIF images, commonly using the .HEIC file extension. HEIC can keep good image quality in less storage space, but some websites, older computers and document portals only accept JPG or PNG. Converting a copy to JPG can make a photo easier to share with those services.
Use the HEIC to JPG converter when an upload form does not accept your iPhone photo. It processes the selected image in your browser and lets you download the converted file.
HEIC and JPG: what is the difference?
HEIC is a newer image format that can store photos efficiently. JPG is an older, widely supported format accepted by many websites, email services and photo applications. Conversion changes the file format; it does not guarantee that the resulting photo will be identical in every detail, so check the downloaded copy before using it.
Convert a photo when a website rejects it
- Choose the HEIC or HEIF photo in the converter.
- Select JPG as the output format and choose a quality setting if one is available.
- Convert and download the new file.
- Open the JPG to confirm it looks right, then upload that copy to the website.
Keep the original HEIC file if you may need it later. If the portal also limits file size, use the image compressor after conversion. If it requires exact dimensions, use the image resizer and check its instructions separately.
Change iPhone camera settings for future photos
On iPhone, the camera format setting can be changed in Settings under Camera and Formats. Choosing “Most Compatible” makes future camera photos use a more widely compatible format, typically JPEG. This setting affects new photos; it does not automatically convert images already in your library. Menu wording can vary by iOS version.
Handle personal photos carefully
Before uploading an ID or personal photo to any service, make sure you trust the destination. MultiToolCloud performs conversion locally in your browser rather than sending the selected image to a file-processing server. Download the result to your device and keep the original until you have confirmed the converted copy works.
